Khalid F. Tabbara, M.D. is currently Chairman of the Saudi Scientific Board of Ophthalmology at the Saudi Commission For Health Specialties in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology at Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, USA, Clinical Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, College of Medicine, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Medical Director of The Eye Center and The Eye Foundation for Research in Ophthalmology, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Tabbara is recipient of “Award in Teaching and Training in Ophthalmology” of Saudi Ophthalmological Society (SOS) during the Third Red Sea Ophthalmology Symposium (RSOS 2017), January 4-7, 2017 at Jeddah Hilton Hotel, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Tabbara received the Life Achievement Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) at the Academy Annual meeting in November 2015, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Dr. Tabbara is the recipient of The Gold Medal Award 2011 of the Saudi Ophthalmological Society (SOS) during the Annual meeting (Saudi Ophthalmology 2011) in February 2011. Dr. Tabbara was awarded the Trachoma Gold Medal of the year 2000 from The International Organization Against Trachoma (IOAT) during the 106th Congress of the French Ophthalmological Society held on May 7, 2000 in Paris, France. (IOAT awards the Gold Medal to one scientist who has contributed to the control of Trachoma in the world). Dr. Tabbara also received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Hellenic Society for the Study of Ocular Inflammations and Infections during the Sixth Panhellenic Congress of Ocular Inflammations and Infections in November 2010 in Greece.

Dr. Tabbara is the author of over 350 scientific publications. He is also the author, co-author or guest editor of many chapters and books in Ophthalmology. Dr. Tabbara is currently active in residents teaching, research, continuing medical education, and clinical ophthalmology.
